The situation of the Hotel Le Cercle is ideal to see the Basilica of the Sacred Trinity, built in 1825, "La Plage Verte" green space, created at the beginning of the 1990's to allow the extension of the port, it takes place where the former artificial Napoleon beach used to be in front of the marina. Hotel is situated in front of the city hall of Cherbourg, and as well as the statue of Napoléon who points towards Arsenal, an historic symbol of the French Navy. Napoléon is represented riding his horse Marengo in the battle of Waterloo.
You only need to cross the swing bridge to admire the former maritime terminal of Cherbourg, where Titanic made a stop on 10th April 1912. After passing through the western channel, the Titanic stopped alongside the central fort, in the largest artificial harbour in the world. The stopover lasted an hour and a half and saw a total of 281 passengers board.
Finally, you can take a pleasant stroll in the city center and contemplate the Italian theatre, a historical monument since 1984, which has been called "the golden theatre" by the Cherbourg natives.
The building where you're staying is a former military building called "Le Cercle Naval". Built in 1945 it has hosted the officers of the French Navy over the decades. After 15 months of renovation works, the former « Cercle Naval » has transformed into a hotel. The 6th of June 2017 marks the rebirth of this history-filled place.
We are pleased to offer today 45 rooms, ranging from 18 to 41m², over a surface area of 3,800m² covering 4 buildings. For your professional meetings, a conference room of 200m² and two meeting rooms (65 and 70m²) are at your disposal. A second phase of works will allow us to offer suites ranging from 41m² to 55m², combining modernity and comfort. The decoration is chic, modern while retaining an industrial touch, the character of the city of Cherbourg and the jewel of the local economy.
